Project on HOLD
It has been so long since I have been on my blog. The sanding of the cabinets are STILL not done. We ended up sanding about half of the cabinets......and that is about it. I put them back up because they were just sitting in the garage. Maybe one day they will be finished. We want to get the cabinets refinished, new counter-top, knock down a wall or two... see. Big project. One of these days! :)
Lets see this project evolve!
Our VERY messy kitchen, but this is what is looks like before. |

This is a messier project than I thought it was going to be. |

More updates will follow! Hoping to stay motivated and get it DONE! I think it would make drastic change for my kitchen. :)

NEW ROOM
The Construction Continues....
This is going to be a big project, but it is going much quicker than I was expecting. Here are some pics of the "soon to be" craft-play room. I am super excited!
This is the space of our new room. They were able to frame the floor. |

Big job..but somebody had to do it! Glad it wasn't me!!!! hahahaha |
Construction is starting.....
Our House Plans
It has been hard for Brad and I to decide what to do with our house. We wanted to move into a bigger home because our family keeps getting bigger. The housing market, as we all know, is a buyers market. It is great for us when it comes to getting a nice, big home...BUT....we were not able to sell ours. It has actually been a blessing. We have been making improvements to our house and have a list a mile long of more we want to accomplish. I am very excited to add a playroom/craft room on the back of our garage area. Now that I am not working, I am DYING to get my craft supplies out and really work on some DIY projects. I am currently looking at purchasing a sewing machine and would like to see if God has blessed me with a good "sewing talent". :) I will keep you posted.
I cannot wait to post some pictures of Liam and Noah's play area we are currently working on. He is one spoiled boy. He is getting numerous outdoor toys for his birthday, so once it is all placed in his mulched area outside, I will get pictures. He is going to love it. Our house needs the general updating that most older homes need. The big BIG project I will be taking on (which I was supposed to do a while back) is sanding and painting the cabinets in the kitchen. Then we will pick out new hardware and new counter-tops. It all excites me, but I am that "immediate gratification" person. I don't really like to work toward it or plan ahead. I like to dive in the minute I am thinking about it. :)
We are going to be painting our dining room. It is currently a country red color on bottom and a buttercream color on top. We will be painting over the red and making it a fern green color. This is where my sewing can come in. I want to change the table runner and curtains, but cannot find exactly what I would like. It only makes sense to customize my own. I think it saves money too and really....what an accomplishment it would be. The hard part about me is staying focused. I start projects and get bored easily. I have to say that I am very motivated though. Better start on all of this while the motivation is pressing.
So...our goal is to continue updating the house and make feel more like a home. I am ready!!! Bring it on!!!! :) **Updates coming soon.
Here are pictures of house as of now:
This is the front of our house. I don't have an updated picture, but we did have a new front door and storm door installed which...WOW. A door can really change the look of your house. This picture is also winter/spring, so I don't have my flowers planted or anything.
We also put down new mulch this year. I LOVE the look of a house with new mulch. It gives your yard a clean-cut look. I love it. We normally would get black mulch, but this year we got dark brown. Love it.
This picture was taken in the dining room looking into the kitchen and nook. When we bought our house, we put in the wood flooring. Since taking this picture, Brad installed a new dining room light and a new ceiling fan/light in the kitchen. On our "to do" list is...tear down the wall between the dining room and kitchen that you are looking at in this picture. We would like to extend the countertop over to add more counter space. It would make it more open. The red color on the dining room wall that you see is what will be green. We went for a country approach with our decor, but now we would like a more contemporary, earth-tone look.
The eye-sore of the house. The bathroom. We hope to completely gut the bathroom. Everything needs updated. That is about all I can say in this room. Ugh.
I really love our bedroom. It feels very comfortable and our bed was probably one of my favorite buys we have made. I don't know why we were so into the red color when we painted, but I do want to keep the red in here. I love our quilt, so I just want to keep this room how it is for now.
Ok...the door needs to go. I do want to change that out. It is on our list to get all new doors throughout the house. I look forward to that so much.
Picture taken from the nook looking into the kitchen and dining room. Cabinet HAVE to change. Sanding is a long, hard job.
We are going to paint the cabinets a white color. Then the counter tops will be a brown/tan or black.
If you look in the yard, there is a big circle of dead grass. We had a pool and it killed the grass. We have put mulch down in that area and that is now Liam's play area. We bought him a cedar playhouse for his birthday that will go there. I can't wait to get pictures of it. :) The shed is also going to eventually get a paint job. The color is AWFUL.
We had a new awning put on last fall. It looks so drab in this pic because it was still winter/spring.

We really want to update the furniture at some point.
